‘Volts by Volvo’ is a new initiative trail-blazing Volvo’s global sustainability mission.

Sustainability sits at the core of Volvo’s brand and business. Volvo has one of the most ambitious climate plans in the car industry, aiming to have 1M electrified vehicles on the road by 2025.

Beyond electrification Volvo wants to help spread ideas of sustainability and responsibility amongst those whose impact can reach far beyond its own business.

To spearhead this mission, we created Volts by Volvo, a program that makes it easy for every electric vehicle owner to have a positive impact on the world.

What’s the point in driving electrified, when your energy isn’t clean?

More than 1 out of 2 drivers of electrified cars are not aware of the origin of their electricity, according to a survey we conducted with Volvo Belgium. 12% even admit that they charge their car with grey energy (energy from fossil fuels). In answer to this, we created Volts by Volvo - a green energy contract for your house, enabling you to charge your car with green energy.

 
 

How Volvo became a (green) energy supplier.

The Brief.

Volvo asked us to establish its sustainability mission at scale during the 2019 Brussels Motorshow.

The Challenge.

Volvo’s first full electric vehicles wouldn’t be ready in time for the Motorshow. We needed to think about sustainability beyond vehicles.

The Strategy.

We moved the conversation on from electric cars to green driving. Instead of comms, we created an ambitious service that makes it easy for every driver to have a positive impact on the planet.

The Results.

  1. Volts by Volvo become the no.1 talking point at the Brussels Motorshow and surrounding press, reaching 7M Belgian households. Far more than other auto makers.

  2. 7/10 visitors said they’d seen or heard about the program, making Volvo the start of the show.
